Hi there- we are Doug and Sara Burris, owners and operators of Burris Cattle located in Guernsey County, OH. Here is a little bit about our family & our Longhorn story.

We were introduced to the Texas Longhorn breed in 2014 in Barnesville, Ohio at  Dickinson Cattle. Doug has worked for DCC ever since where he now runs all cow-calf operations.  

Doug studied Biology and Business at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. His  studies helped him to be able to undertake jobs at DCC including: AI, herd health and  employee management.  He oversees as many 1300 head of cattle where he fuels his passion for the breed. He has  the unique opportunity to grow out as many as 400 calves a year and study them to maturity.  Doug is an ITLA approved judge where he judges around the country. 

We live in Cambridge, OH with our three children Lorelei, Leo, and Lainey. Together we operate a herd of Registered Texas Longhorns, B -C. Burris Cattle has the opportunity to market show quality animals  with the skills developed from a career in the business. Doug uses AI to keep the herd of  Longhorns competitive and marketable.  

We are active members in the Ohio River Valley Texas Longhorn Association where Doug serves as the President and Sara manages the website & Beef committee.  We attend Bible Baptist Church of Byesville, Ohio and teach Sunday School. When we are not doing pasture checks, halter breaking calves or judging at shows we enjoy riding the range by four wheeler and enjoying ice cream on family movie nights!
